From October 11th to 12th, 2024, the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS), organized a two-day orientation and training workshop for Assembly Members at Our Lady’s Grace SHS.

The workshop aimed to equip Assembly Members with the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to effectively fulfill their roles in local governance. Participants were introduced to the local governance system, its challenges, and opportunities, as well as their specific responsibilities. The training emphasized leadership development and the evolving roles of Assembly Members in promoting local development.

Key areas of focus included enhancing competencies in economic development, job creation, revenue mobilization, and fostering inclusive environments. The workshop also provided a platform for networking, experience-sharing, and discussions on best practices for accelerating local development.

Additionally, participants engaged in consensus-building on advancing Ghana’s decentralization program and key local governance reforms.

In their closing remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Coordinating Director, and Presiding Member encouraged Assembly Members to apply the knowledge gained to strengthen good governance.

At the end of the workshop, Assembly Members received certificates in recognition of their participation.
