THE KWABRE EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY MADE A PRESENTATION OF EQUIPMENT TO MASTER CRAFT PERSONS AND APPRENTICES UNDER THE NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME (NAP) ON FEBRUARY 25, 2026 AT THE ASSEMBLY FORECOURT..
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly, Hon. Joseph Amankwa, on 25th February 2026 presented working tools and equipment to Master Craft Persons and Apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) within the municipality.
The National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) is one of the Government of Ghana’s key initiatives aimed at equipping young people with practical and employable skills in order to reduce the growing rate of youth unemployment in the country. The programme provides support for apprentices by supplying training equipment and creating opportunities for them to acquire vocational skills that can help them establish sustainable livelihoods.
In his address during the presentation ceremony, Hon. Joseph Amankwa encouraged the youth to actively participate in government initiatives designed to improve their lives and future prospects. He advised them to avoid partisan politics and instead focus on programmes that promote personal development and economic empowerment. The MCE emphasized that the National Apprenticeship Programme is a long-term government intervention aimed at addressing unemployment among young people. According to him, the programme will help many youth acquire practical skills that will enable them to become self-employed and contribute positively to the development of the municipality and the country as a whole.
The MCE also assured the beneficiaries that he would periodically visit the training centres to monitor their progress and ensure that the programme is being implemented effectively. He finally appealed to the Master Craft Persons to do their best to properly train and mentor the apprentices so that they can become skilled professionals in the future. The presentation ceremony forms part of the government’s broader effort to empower young people through skills training, entrepreneurship development, and job creation.
Also present at the event was Mr. Patrick Opoku Fofie, the Regional Director of the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting skills development and vocational training among the youth. He further advised the apprentices to take their training seriously, noting that the President’s vision is to significantly reduce unemployment within the municipality and across the country.
He therefore encouraged the apprentices to respect their trainers and cooperate fully with them in order to benefit from the training. Mr. Patrick Opoku Fofie also urged the Master Craft Persons to remain committed to their responsibility of properly training the apprentices. He advised them to ensure that the apprentices are trained in the specific trades they registered for and to avoid assigning them to unrelated domestic chores. He stressed that the success of the programme largely depends on the commitment of both the trainers and the apprentices.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the presentation of equipment under the National Apprenticeship Programme demonstrates the government’s commitment to promoting vocational training and reducing youth unemployment. The support provided to both Master Craft Persons and apprentices will enhance skills development and improve opportunities for self-employment among the youth in the municipality.
