LAUNCH OF 30 DAYS COUNTDOWN TO 2021 POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS

Ghana Statistical Services as part of its mandate is preparing towards the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) with the Census Night scheduled for Sunday 27th June. As part of the preparation, the Statistical Service of Kwabre East Municipal Assembly has launched the 30 days countdown to the Census night, district level, to start intensive campaign and create awareness of the census at Our Lady of Grace Senior High School Auditorium on Friday 28th May, 2021.
MUNICIPAL COORDINATING DIRECTOR
Mr. Bediako Brempong Asare, the Municipal Coordinating Director of Kwabre East during the ceremony welcomed all participants present. He said the 2021 Population and Housing Census which was first conducted in 1891 and it is been conducted every decade but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was not conducted in 2020 but postponed to 2021.
Mr. Asare explained that, the census will help government to know the total number of population in the country in order to plan and put necessary measures in place for the development of the country. He said the exercise comprises of enumerating the total number of houses and persons. He assured the District Census Committee of the Assembly’s full support to them in the exercise.
Mr. Bediako Brempong Asare concluded by urging participants present to spread the news and also create awareness of the exercise. He further urged each and every one to involve themselves in the exercise and also ensure that they cooperate with the census officers and provide the needed information they will need to complete the exercise.

Mr. Agyapong, the District Census Officer of Kwabre East Municipality during the ceremony expressed his gratitude to all members present.
