KWABRE EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS THE SECOND ORDINARY MEETING OF THE THIRD SESSION OF THE 8th ASSEMBLY.
Kwabre East Municipal Assembly has on Thursday, 27th October, 2022 hold second ordinary meeting of the third session of the 8th Assembly at the Municipal’s Assembly Hall, Mamponteng.
The Presiding Member of the meeting, Hon. George Oppong during the meeting thanked and welcomed participants present to the third Ordinary meeting of the 8th Assembly. He urged participants to try their best to cooperate and participate within the scheduled time. He used the opportunity to introduce the Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly to the house in the person of Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu.
During the meeting, some Assembly members raised concern about how washing bay at Kenyasi operate on the main road and members tasked the Municipal Engineer and the Works to issues the warning letter to the owner and operator of the said washing bay to desist from operating the main road and if their operation still persists they should be prosecuted. Some concern also raised including Mamponteng Lorry Station, Traffic control at Fawoade, Acquisition of meters, Tourism and culture, Mamponteng Market etc.
The municipal chief executive hon. Agyemang Bonsu thank the Lord for this meeting, and also thanked the members in the assembly. He addresses the problems that the communities in this municipal are facing to the assembly.
Hon. Agyemang Bonsu started with the street lighting. He said visibility is very important when it comes to life, and also prevent crimes as well as social vices. He said the committee and the assembly will deliver electricity bulbs to be installed in identified areas to improve sight and security in the various electoral areas of the municipality.
Again, hon. Agyemang Bonsu cited on the increasing drug peddling among the youth in the municipality. Its resultant hooliganism was also discussed, and it was observed that most of the of the violent activities is also perform by the pragya operators in the community. He said that the executive committee have made recommendations that: Transport office of the assembly and the District police commander should regulate the activities of the pragya operators and also collaborate with the municipal MTTU and register the pragya operators in the municipality.
The executive committee after being informed of the need for the provision of bigger water tank for Mamponteng fire service, they recommended that the assembly should provide the fire station with a bigger reservoir for its operation. Hon. Agyemang Bonsu said the vehicular challenge hampering the activities of the works department were brought to the notice of the committee. The meeting was informed that the municipal Coordinating Director’s official vehicles will be repaired so that the Nissan Pickup will be released to support the works department in carrying out monitoring and supervision activities.
Furthermore, hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu talked on social services. He addresses the intermittent lights off situation in the municipality and its worrying economic effects. They recommended that, the assembly should get a generator or plant for its administration activities whenever there’s a power cut.
