REPORT ON THE KWABRE EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY’S 67TH INDEPENDENCE AN NIVERSARY PARADE ON THE 6TH OF MARCH, 2024 AT THE D/A SCHOOL PARK, WADIE ADWUMAKAASE DUBBED “OUR DEMOCRACY, OUR PRIDE”.

 

On Monday, 6th March 2024, the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly held its 67th independence anniversary parade to commemorate Ghana’s independence from the British in 1957. Dignitaries present were Hon. Opoku Agyeman Bonsu (MCE), Chief Superintendent Kukubor Seth Eyarko Municipal Police Commander, Mr. Kofi Frimpong formal Member of Parliament,  Mr. Isaac Kwame Elima  Municipal  Coordinating Director, Mrs. Dorothy Safoa Adjei Deputy Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs. Ronnies Serwah Boamah Municipal Information Officer, Nana Akwasi Anhwere II Chief of Wadia Adwumakaase, Baffour Atta Asare Municipal Education Director, Mr. Stephen Anderson Municipal Cultural Officer, Hon. Onyina Acheampong A. Gyamfi Member of Parliament Elect Kwabre East,   Party Executives, noble traditional authorities, Nanamon, Hon Assembly Members  all heads of Departments  and agencies graced the occasion successfully.

According to Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu the Municipal Chief Executive this is a day the Lord has made, let all rejoice and be glad in it, he said in his singular honor to address on this day 67th Anniversary of our nation’s dependence. This is occasion when we celebrate our independent day with due honor and dignity, on behalf of our president Excellency Nana Addo Darkwa Akuffo Addo welcome you all to this historic national program. Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu also thanked the management and Independence planning committee of Kwabre East Assembly for all the effort and the hardworking they have put in planning the successfully executing this national celebration, he also congratulates the school Children for their smartness and impressive turn out this morning.

Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu  stated that this is the second time the Independence day celebration is been celebrated outside the Municipal Capital Mamponteng after the successful commemoration at Adanwomasi the celebration at Wadia Adwumakaasi is in accordance’s with his Excellency the president  Nana Addo Darkwa Akuffo Addo decision to relocates the celebration across the sixteen Region in Country, the decision of his Excellency is aims to enhancing unity and cohesion among the people of Ghana, the decision according the president is also make it clear segment of Ghanaian population that  they are all part of one Ghana project.

Again Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu noted that the Assembly as a representative of government in our Municipality is obliged and replicate the president decision hence the celebration of this day in Wadia Adwumakaase, today Koforidua the Capital of Easten Region is hosting this year national event, just as Wadia Adwumakaase for the Municipal celebration. Hon. Opoku Agyemang congratulate Nananom and the good people of Wadia Adwumakaase and entire community for embracing memorable occasion and making it a success, we are very appreciative of your support and cooperative.

Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu stated that  as we celebrate freedom of 67years it is our duty and responsibility to remember with honor our hero who fought to retain our freedom, today it is important   to memory unity the sense of purpose and responsibility our forefathers fought and gain political independence from our colonial rules, this must definitely serves strong motivation for us and also continues to unite as one people with common destiny working together to overcome the challenges that confronts us today.
