66TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY PARADE ON THE 6TH OF MARCH 2023 AT THE ROMAN CATHOLIC SCHOOL PARK, ADANWOMASE DUBBED “OUR UNITY, OUR STRENGTH, AND OUR PURPOSE”.
On Monday, 6th March 2023, the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly held its 66th independence anniversary parade to commemorate Ghana’s independence from the British in 1957. Dignitaries present were Hon. Oheneba Opoku Agyeman Bonsu (MCE), Baba Iddi, (Coordinating Director), Nana Kwadwo Ntimoah II Chief of Adanwomase, Baffour Atta Asare Municipal Education Director, Chief Superintendent Kukubor Seth Eyarko Municipal Police Officer, Fredrick Yeboah Municipal Fire Service Officer, Nananom, Party Executives, Heads of Institutions/ Agencies, Chief Imam, Catechists, Core Management, Security Heads, Presiding Member, Assembly Members and the Media.
Arrival of school children, students and identifiable groups started around 8:00 am, followed by the arrival of guests, heads of departments, Nananom and the Municipal Chief Executive and his Entourage.
Going forward, Hon. MCE gave his address, He expressed how grateful he is to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the nation independence at Adanwomase Roman Catholic School Park, on behalf of his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo wish to welcome you all to this historic event.
According to Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu He said that today programme is a historic one, because this is the first time the Independence Day anniversary is being held outside the Municipal Capital since the establishment of the Kwabre East. This is in line with the President’s decision to celebrate the day in rotational basis to open the 16th region of Ghana to the world to boost the local economy. In pursuant to the President’s decision, the planning Committee chose to hold the programme at Adanwomase so as to promote the rich Kente and tourism industry in this community.
Moreover Hon. Stated that subsequent celebrations will be replicated in order circuit to enable the school in those circuit to have a feel of independence Day celebration. He admit that today’s celebration will go a long way to project the rich Kente and adinkra industry with the community to the rest of the world.
Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu said that the overall goal of the government is to improve the quality of lives of all citizens and build a prosperous nation. And in achieving that, it will be wrong on our part as government to claim monopoly of solving all national problems. Our theme for this year’s anniversary. OUR UNITY, OUR STRENGTH, OUR PURPOSE is there for reminding us of the need for use to be united to achieve our purpose.
Lastly, He congratulated the school children for the smart impressive turnout this morning. This morning’s display is a manifestation of what we can do if we unite and work together towards the achievement of our common purpose as a nation. He also thanked the security services, and the municipal Independence Day planning committee for all the efforts and hard work you have put into planning and successfully executing this important national celebration.
Summarily, the MC, Mr. Stephen Anderson announced the various results for the winners and prizes were presented to them, below were the winners;
