KWABRE EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS FIRST ORDINARY MEETING OF THE SECOND SESSION OF THE 8th ASSEMBLY.

Kwabre East Municipal Assembly has on Tuesday, 27th July, 2021 hold the first ordinary meeting of the second session of the 8th Assembly at the Municipal’s Assembly Hall, Mamponteng.

The Presiding Member of the meeting, Hon. George Oppong during the meeting thanked and welcomed participants present to the first Ordinary meeting of the 8th Assembly. He said, according to the directives issued by the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, concerning restrictions of the Covid- 19 pandemic on Social gatherings, he urged participants to try their best to cooperate and participate within the scheduled time. He used the opportunity to introduce the acting Municipal Coordinating Director of the Assembly to the house in the person of Mr. Ransford Nyarko, Municipal Agric Director. He said, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Bediako Brempong Asare is indisposed at the moment so Mr. Nyarko has stepped in to act on his behalf till he officially resumes office. Hon. George together with the house glanced through the previous minute for corrections, submissions and approval and the house accepted the minutes after all corrections and submissions have been made. Some members of the house raised concerns about the minute and it was duly addressed to.

During the meeting, some members raised concern about the arrangement of the house because some of the chairs are not in good shape so the protocol officers and people in charge of the arrangement should take note of it and do something about it the welfare committee also explained to the house about the measures they are putting in place with regards to the guidelines they will use to govern the welfare for its development. The Physical Planning Director and Engineer of the Assembly explained to the house about issues raised by members of the house concerning road congestions and permit of temporal structures. Some concerns too were raised about the tree planting project, construction of mechanized boreholes, planting for food and Rural Development, Assembly’s Grader, and other issues in the Municipality like, traffic congestion at Ahwiaa Overseas, Fawoade, Aboaso, Ntonso, Abirem and other communities in the Municipality which is as a result of potholes on some part of the road, among other pressing issues which needed immediate attention to be addressed were discussed.

MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE (MCE).

Hon. Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu, Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly during the meeting delivered a report on an executive committee meeting held on Thursday, 24th June 2021 at the Conference room of the Assembly where they deliberated on issues that is affecting the development of the Municipality submitted by seven (7) Sub-Committees. In his report, he emphasized on some suggestions and recommendations of the Executive committee to the General Assembly for consideration and approval. Some of the suggestions were operation of the Zonal Councils, expansion of Aboaso Toll booth, Management of Assembly’s Grader, Furniture for Basic schools, Funding of Mock Examination for JHS Students in the Municipality, the Negative effect of some community Information Centre on teaching and learning of some basic schools, Resolution of Boundary issues, Acquisition of Final Disposal Sites, Collection of Burial Permit fee, Provision of Additional Streetlights, Enforcement of a ban on Drinking Spot or Pub not to operate beyond 10:00 pm, Conversion of Old Limex Quarry site at Truba to a modern Recreational facility,  among others.

Hon. Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu used the opportunity to express his gratitude to the Presiding Member, Member of Parliament, Assembly members, Heads of Department, Staff members and all participants for their support, team work, and cordial relationship. He urged the Assembly members to sometimes check their tone of speech and the kind of words they use during meetings.

CONCLUSION

Members of the house raised concerns about some of the suggestions and recommendations by the executive committee and they were addressed to. The house agreed and made conclusions on the suggestions made by the executive committee. All COVID-19 protocols were strictly observed and members expressed their satisfaction at the end of the meeting.
