KWABRE EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY INAUGURATE AND ORIENT A MULTI- PURPOSE TASK FORCE IN THE MUNICIPALITY

Hon. Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu, Municipal Chief Executive of Kwabre East Municipal Assembly has on Tuesday 3rd Sept, 2021 inaugurated and Oriented a Multi-Purpose Task Force.

During the Inauguration, Hon. Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu welcomed and expressed his excitement and gratitude to the participant and the resource persons and also encouraged the participants to take the lessons seriously.

Hon. Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu used the opportunity to educate the participants to know that the duty of the task force is to check and laid developers who build on roads or roots, water logged areas or water ways. He urged the task force to take the documents of stop work issues of the developers to the office for inspection when they refuse to notify us and the written request is given to him to stop work, and if the person fails, they can demolish the building. And also said that, in the next meeting there will be a highlights on what the Assembly are to educate members on what to do on the roadside by the Police Commander and the MTTD.

PRESIDING MEMBER

The Presiding Member for Kwabre East Municipal Assembly, Hon. George Oppong used the platform to make an opening remarks for the intent of the orientation. He spoke lengthy and indicated that the task force should prepare their minds and strength to commit themselves to the task assigned to. He explained that, their exercise are going to cut across all sensitive and important areas in the Municipality.

Hon. George Oppong added that, they should not use their office to commit crime or exploit the citizens of the Municipality. He again stated that, the works department exist to perform numerous activities to the Municipality in the areas of Permanent and Temporal. He related that, commercial drivers must know the laws behind their work, collective responsibility must be well utilized and also there should be collaboration between the other departments.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT (MTTD COMMENDER)

Traffic Management. MTTD Commander, ASP Owusu–Poku Charles of Kwabre East Municipality started by lamenting on how they are suffering in controlling the traffic. He said that a group tasked by the Assembly to regulate traffic in urban cities but must be within the

Assembly and since there is no traffic light on our roads, it has caused traffic jamming in the Assembly and traffic light also help in reducing traffic movement . He further explained that, unauthorized parking is causing accident on our Highways, Village and Towns and there is a need for towing cars from the roadside and will at least will generate venue for the Assembly

ASP Owusu-Poku Charles again said that, placing substances on the roads like littering around and on the roads, unauthorized shops and containers on the pavement, selling along the roadside.

He concluded by urging drivers not to communicate whiles driving and also should not molest any driver if that the Assembly can send you to where they think your service are needed.

MUNICIPAL POLICE COMMANDER (MAMPONTENG)

Kwabre East Municipal Assembly Police Commander, D.S.P Nathan Apraku Yeboah in his speech said that, the task force are to work hand in hand with the police and the Assembly and should only act on the instruction given by the leaders. He also suggested that, information or records of the houses should be given to the task force ahead of their operations and work as a team

He concluded by advising the task force to work hard and donate themselves anytime the Assembly needed them. And also they will be given a uniform, ID cards, and bio-data that can help them do their inspection on criminal cases and the authority to arrest. Again, if someone is invited to the office and that person declines, the task force should not force them in the first call, but to report them to the Assembly for order to arrest the culprit, after which they can arrest the culprit.

MUNUCIPAL FINANCE OFFICER (MFO)

Municipal Finance Officer of Kwabre East Assembly, Mr. Kofi Antwi in his speech said that, the Assembly exist to bring developments to the communities and this only would be achieved through revenue generation. Again the task force and the revenue office with effective collaboration will help in the increment of revenue for the Assembly and also the revenue officer will be with the task force, police, court and other institutions to be strengthened in order to generate more revenue for development

MUNICIPAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mrs. Confidence Sika Artcher in her speech said that, the task force should work diligently and any overflowed refuse containers should be discuss with the office for deliberation since the exercise is carried out by the Zoom lion for effective regulation of sanitation.

She concluded by advising the task force not to fight with the people but should always follow the right channel and also handle them with care patience at all time.

CONCLUSION

The Task Force inauguration at the assembly conference hall will help people within the Kwabre East Municipality without any difficulties. The inauguration and the orientation was very successful with all the covid-19 protocols strictly adhered to.

Badu, Human Resource Management officer, Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Aziz, Municipal Physical Planning Officer, Mr. Patrick Akukene, Municipal Information Officer, Mrs. Ronnies Serwah Boamah  and other executives.
