MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE DONATES FERTILIZERS AND WELLINGTON BOOTS TO FARMERS

The Kwabre East Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Joseph Amankwah, distributed farm inputs to farmers within the municipality on September 11, 2025. The initiative, carried out through the Department of Agriculture, was aimed at boosting agribusiness and enhancing food security in the area.
Speaking at the event, the MCE, on behalf of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, presented 50 bags of Ammonium fertilizer, 50 bags of MKP fertilizer, 15 boxes of Wellington boots, and 20 boxes of weedicides to farmers across the municipality. Hon. Amankwah emphasized that government remains committed to supporting farmers with the necessary inputs to improve crop yields, reduce poverty, and promote sustainable agricultural development.
He further noted that agribusiness has the potential to transform the local economy by creating job opportunities, increasing food production, and reducing dependency on imported produce.
The distribution exercise, held at the forecourt of the Municipal Assembly, attracted several farmers and stakeholders in the agricultural sector. Officials from the Agricultural Department supervised the program and assured farmers of the Assembly’s continuous support to sustain agribusiness and promote modern farming practices.
This initiative is expected to:
1. Enhance Agricultural Productivity – The provision of essential inputs such as fertilizers, weedicides, and protective gear will improve crop yields and enable farmers to adopt better farming practices.
2. Promote Agribusiness Development – By empowering farmers with resources, the program will create opportunities to expand their businesses, access markets, and increase incomes.
3. Support the Local Economy – Increased agricultural productivity will significantly contribute to the growth and stability of the municipality’s economy while improving the livelihoods of farming households.
The distribution of farm inputs is therefore a major step towards achieving government’s broader vision of ensuring food security, promoting rural development, and driving socio-economic progress in the Kwabre East Municipality.
