SUPPORT FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES UNDER DACF AND PERD PROGRAMS

On June 10th, 2024, the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly held a durbar at the forecourt to support persons with disabilities under the DACF and PERD (Promoting Equal Rights for Women and Girls with Disabilities) initiatives. The theme of the event was “Improving the Living Conditions and Lives of Persons with Disabilities.”

Mr. Francis Kyei, the Municipal Coordinating Director, addressed the participants and audience. He encouraged the beneficiaries receiving the items to make good use of them so that others could emulate their efforts and become more aware of their rights and responsibilities in the community.

Hon. Opoku Agyeman Bonsu, the Municipal Chief Executive, also commended the Municipal Fund Management Committee and the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) for organizing the event to support persons with disabilities. According to him, the Government of Ghana, under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has increased the District Assembly Common Fund allocation from 2% to 3%, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring the welfare of all vulnerable groups, especially persons with disabilities.
