THE KWABRE EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY CELEBRATES THE 39TH FARMER’S DAY AT KENYASI M/A SCHOOL PARK.
The Kwabre East Municipal Assembly organized this year’s Farmers day at Kenyasi on Friday, 1st December 2023 under the theme “Delivering Smart Solution for Sustainable food Security and Resilience
Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion were the Municipal Chief Executive MCE Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu, the Member of Parliament MP for the Kwabre East Constituency, Mrs. Francisca Oteng Mensah, the Coordinating Director Mr. Isaac Kwame Elimah, Hon. George Oppong, ESQ Presiding Member, D.S. P Christopher Antwi Donkor District Police Commander Kenyasi, Nana Baffour Asare Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Elisie Kissi Municipal Health Director. Barima Fredua Agyemang Ababio Chief of Kenyasi, Mr. Stephen Anderson Municipal Cultural Officer, Mr. Ransford Nyarko Municipal Agric Director, Mrs. Ronnies Serwah Boamah Municipal Information Officer, Apostle Dr. Enoch Frimpong Christ Apostolic Church Keyansi, Mrs. Akua Brago Municipal Fire Commander, Head of departments Unit and agencies Honorable Assembly members, Nananom and Farmers.
Addressing the occasion, Hon Opoku Agyemang Bonsu Municipal Chief Executive thanked God Almighty for another opportunity to be part of the National Farmer’s day of Kwabre East Municipality, and most importantly to address this August gathering of behalf of president of the Republic his Excellency Nana Addo Darkwa AKffour Addo.
According to Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu he also acknowledge the founding fathers of this day and celebrate the hard work of farmer’s, fishermen along the Agriculture sector for their venerable contribution for flow currency and economic grow for Mother Ghana. As a country we recognized the effort of our farmer’s and for his reason that we have for the past 38years honored and celebrate their hard work. Hon. Opoku Agyemang Stated that on behalf of his Excellency the president extend his congratulation to the farmers and fishermen, most especially all the award winners.
Mrs Francisca Oteng Mensah, MP for the Kwabre East Constituency who doubles as the Deputy Gender Minister in a short but impressive address, congratulated all farmers who won the farmer’s awards this year “ME MA MO AYEKOO’’
According to the MP, Farmers are considered the backbone of the country economic and 1st December is dedicated to all farmers for their immensely contribution towards the country economic. Again she touched on our poor road network which is one of the most pressing issues in the municipality the government still remains committed to fixing our roads. Contractors are to begin working on the Mamponteng town road, Kenyasi – Antoa town road, Aboaso town road, Ntonso- Antoa town roads, Meduma town roads and many more.
Mr.Swanzy Achar Moses a 56 year old Farmer from Bamang was awarded the overall best Farmer for the Kwabre East Municipality. He has a record of 16000 Catfish, 2000 Tilapia, 1500 Snails, Guinea fowl 8, Local fowl 200, Rabbits 4, Turkeys 4, Layers 4500, Oil palm 35 acres, Coconut 20 acres, Maize 6, Rice 6 acres, Cowpea 1 acres, Cassava 3 acres, Okro 3 acres.
